Ruins of Luozhuang City

The ruins of Luozhuang City is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

The ruins of Luozhuang City are located in Luozhuang Village, Wenquan Town, Donghai County, Lianyungang City. The site is roughly square-shaped, stretching 420 meters from north to south and 443 meters from east to west, covering an area of approximately 180,000 square meters. The eastern, southern, and northern walls of the ancient city have largely disappeared, but the northeastern, southeastern, and southwestern corners remain noticeably elevated (the highest point reaches an elevation of 51 meters, with a 3-meter drop compared to the surrounding farmland), likely representing connected platforms or corner towers. The western part of the site retains a section of the city wall with a trapezoidal profile; the base is 11 meters wide, and the inner wall slopes gently at 35° inward. The eastern part has been shaped into a steep slope due to extensive soil extraction. Pottery fragments such as jars and dou vessels collected from a ditch at the base of the slope exhibit craft features from the Spring and Autumn period. The surface of the site is scattered with numerous gray pottery shards bearing rope-pattern imprints, preliminarily dated to the Han Dynasty. The Luozhuang City ruins provide important physical evidence for the study of architecture and craftsmanship from the Spring and Autumn period to the Han Dynasty. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Lianyungang City in 2010, and later listed as a provincial-level heritage site under the seventh batch of protections in Jiangsu Province in 2011.

Protected Area:

The protected area of the "Ruins of Luozhuang City" is defined by the outer edges of the remaining city walls, spanning 371 meters from east to west, 458 meters from north to south, with a perimeter of 1,661 meters.

Wenquan Resort Area (Wenquan Town): Following the 2013 administrative division adjustment, Henggou Township and Wenquan Town were merged to form the new Wenquan Town. The adjusted administrative area covers 102.71 square kilometers, with a population of 52,400, and governs 18 village committees. The town government is located at No. 1 Zhaoyang Road, Wenquan Town. After this adjustment, Donghai County reduced its number of administrative units from 13 towns and 8 townships to 17.

A town under the jurisdiction of Donghai County, named after the hot springs within its territory. It is the largest eel farming base in northern Jiangsu.
