Jinhu Willow Bay Wetland Park is located within the Huai River’s inlet channel to the Yangtze River, adjacent to the center of the old Sanhe area in the county town. It is a natural small island covering an area of 138 hectares. The island features 80 hectares of willow woods and 20 hectares of reed beds, remaining lush and green throughout spring, summer, and autumn. Surrounded by clear, rippling waters, the park boasts the scenic charm of a natural water town. For many years, it has been an ideal destination for leisure and recreation for the local residents. In early spring, when the willows are just beginning to turn yellow and the grass is growing with birds flying about, as the poem goes, “The ground is covered with sprouting artemisia and short reed shoots—just the time when puffer fish begin to swim upstream,” people flock here for spring outings. At this time, the ground is dotted with tender artemisia, and many visitors eagerly dig up the herb to take home and cook. This seasonal wild vegetable is incredibly delicious. During the hot summer months, the park becomes a popular retreat from the heat, with crowds heading to the sandy beach for swimming and cooling off. Nowadays, the park offers a variety of recreational facilities including an ice-skating rink, a Ferris wheel, a pirate ship, a horse riding field, a shooting range, tennis courts, go-karts, a children’s playground, and a water-themed dance hall. During holidays, it draws large numbers of visitors looking to relax and have fun.
