Asia’s largest duty-free store opens in Kinmen f Hengchang’s Jinhu Plaza spans 9,000 pyeong in total

With ongoing development and transformation, as well as a surge in tourist arrivals, Kinmen’s tourism offerings have expanded far beyond its military heritage charm, and shopping has also flourished. The duty-free store f Hengchang officially launched the trial operation of “Jinhu Plaza” by Taihu Lake in Kinmen on May 5. Covering a total area of 9,000 pyeong, the plaza includes duty-free shops, international luxury brands, department stores, a cinema, and a food street, making it the largest duty-free store in Asia to date.

At the opening ceremony, Kinmen County Magistrate Li Woshi, Deputy Magistrate Wu Youqin, and f Hengchang Chairman Jiang Songhua, along with guests from various sectors, visited the facilities of Jinhu Plaza. According to f Hengchang, the plaza houses numerous internationally renowned premium brands, as well as Kinmen’s largest fashion department store, the first imported supermarket in Kinmen, and the first Evergreen Cinema. In the future, residents of Kinmen will no longer need to travel to Taiwan or Xiamen in China’s Fujian Province to enjoy shopping and entertainment experiences.

The floor plan of the newly established Jinhu Plaza is very similar to that of a typical high-end department store, but with the added advantage of duty-free shopping. Capitalizing on the potential of cross-strait exchanges and the development of the “Kinmen-Xiamen living circle,” other floors feature local Taiwanese folk art, souvenirs, and authentic specialty snacks. f Hengchang also announced that from May 5 to May 7, it will prepare 1,000 shopping bags daily as welcome gifts for visitors, available for exchange by Kinmen residents with newspaper coupons.
