Jiulian Temple in Xinja Street, Dongtai is a cultural tourism attraction.

A national AA-level tourist attraction, located on the main island of the nine interconnected islets in the northeast of Xinja Town. It faces the spiritually rich "New Eight Islands" across the river and is connected to Jiangsu Provincial Highway 226, the Yancheng–Nantong Expressway, National Highway 204, and the Xinchang Railway to the west. The temple houses exquisitely built and simply styled halls such as the Mahavira Hall, Mountain Gate Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Reclining Buddha Hall, Guanyin Hall, Jingxin Building, Mingxin Building, Lecture Hall, and Dining Hall, covering a construction area of 5,500 square meters with total assets exceeding 45 million yuan. Jiulian Temple is also renowned both at home and abroad as the "Jade Buddha Temple." The temple enshrines 123 jade Buddha statues, all meticulously carved from high-quality Burmese white marble. Jiulian Temple is separated from the "Bamboo Sea" by just a strip of water. Within the temple, morning bells and evening drums accompany chanting and scripture recitation. Outside, the swaying bamboo shadows, birdsong, floral fragrance, and murmuring streams create a serene setting that connects to rivers and the sea—making it a sacred Buddhist site. In 2007, it was successfully designated as a national AA-level tourist attraction.
