The Nanxiang Brick Pagoda is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Five Dynasties Nanxiang Brick Pagoda was originally built between the Five Dynasties period and the early Northern Song Dynasty, and was initially located inside the main gate of Baihe Nanxiang Temple. In 1980, it was designated as a municipal cultural relic protection unit, and in 1985, after restoration, the ancient pagoda regained its original appearance. The pagoda features flame-shaped arched niches, simple lattice windows, exquisitely crafted bracket sets, delicate railings, and an elegant spire — all in perfect proportion and remarkably lifelike, showcasing the typical architectural style of the Tang and Song dynasties.

The Nanxiang Brick Pagoda is also known as the "Nanxiang Twin Pagodas," as it consists of a pair of “twin” ancient brick pagodas that have now become iconic landmarks of Nanxiang Ancient Town. The two pagodas are not far from the ground and may not seem special at first glance — they are not very tall either — but these small pagodas are actually the “elderly statesmen” among Shanghai’s ancient towers and are considered treasures among China’s brick pagodas. Small yet exquisite, they are built from blue bricks and feature flame-shaped arched niches, simple lattice windows, exquisitely crafted bracket sets, delicate railings, and an elegant spire, all reflecting the typical architectural style of the Tang and Song dynasties.
