Jiading Library (New Branch)

The new branch of Jiading Library officially opened in 2013 and now serves as the main library. It is located behind the Jiading Cultural Center and adjacent to the Poly Grand Theater.

The new branch of Jiading Library has a designed collection capacity of 600,000 volumes and 981 reading seats. The architecture follows the style of a traditional Jiangnan academy, with a roof shaped like an open book, perfectly blending classic charm with modern aesthetics. It was selected by the authoritative American design magazine 《interiordesign》 as the “Best Public Library in the World” in 2013, and is also hailed as the “Most Beautiful Library in Shanghai.”

The library includes areas such as the general literature lending section, multimedia literature lending section, 24-hour self-service library, children’s library, visually impaired reading room, and audiovisual services.
