Xiangdong Buddhist Statue Art Museum

The “Shanghai Xiangdong Buddhist Statue Art Museum” is located in the Feicheng Creative Industry Park in Jiading District. It displays over a thousand Buddhist statue exhibits dating from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Republic of China era. Having endured the trials of time, the vast majority of these pieces are extremely precious. The materials of the displayed statues include not only gold, silver, copper, iron, and tin, but also ceramics, ivory, purple clay, enamel, as well as precious woods such as rosewood, chicken-wing wood, boxwood, and camphor wood.

The collections in the “Shanghai Xiangdong Buddhist Statue Art Museum” were gathered over 40 years by Buddhist statue collector Wang Xiangdong. The museum was conceptualized and designed by renowned Chinese architect Liu Jiakun. The venue draws on the architectural language of Buddhist cultural sites while incorporating the original features of the abandoned factory building, creating a unique concept of an “inner jungle.”
