The Shanghai Children's Liuh River Activity Camp serves as a patriotic education base.

The Shanghai Children's Liuh River Activity Camp was established on May 28, 1987. It was jointly founded by the Shanghai Coordinating Committee for Children and Youth Work, the Municipal Women’s Federation, the Municipal Education Commission, the Jiading District People’s Government, and others. Covering an area of nearly 200 acres with a construction area of 8,000 square meters, it can accommodate over 600 students for overnight stays and activities.

Over the past two decades, the camp has adhered to a management philosophy centered on high-quality administration, guidance, and services, and a mission focused on independence, self-care, hands-on experience, and innovation. Based in Jiading, serving Shanghai, and extending its influence to surrounding areas, the camp maintains a distinctive focus on “wilderness fun, farm fun, and joy.” By organizing quality development programs, agricultural learning experiences, military training, and special thematic educational activities, it has carried out a rich variety of social practice programs. It has developed a unique camp model that centers on patriotism and collectivism education, while emphasizing the cultivation of independence and self-care abilities, as well as sound moral character, psychological resilience, and behavioral standards.

Over the past 26 years, the camp has hosted nearly 4,000 schools (visits), serving more than one million young students, achieving significant social benefits and educational outcomes. It has been honored with titles such as “Shanghai Garden Unit,” “Shanghai Advanced Collective in Joint Military-Civilian Construction of Socialist Spiritual Civilization,” “Jiading District Civilized Unit,” “Shanghai Outstanding Patriotic Education Base,” “Shanghai Environmental Education Base,” and “National Youth Outdoor Sports Activity Camp.”
