Nanshuiguan

Nanshuiguan is a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Nanshuiguan is located at the eastern end of Dongjie on Nan Chenghe in Jiading Town, dating back to the Yuan Dynasty.

The river surface is broad, and Nanshuiguan, which spans the Mili River, is also known as Huilongguan. It runs east-west and is situated at the confluence of the Mili River and the Outer City Moat. It is said to have been originally built in the 18th year of the Zhi Zheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1358), with renovations carried out during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In a certain year during the Republic of China, it suffered damage from war.

Protected area: To the east, west, and north of the water gate structure: 10 meters each. To the south: the Outer City Moat.

Construction control zone: North: the southern exterior wall line of the existing six-story building; West: the eastern exterior wall line of the existing six-story building; East: 20 meters beyond the protected area; South: the Outer City Moat.

Jiading Town Subdistrict: Before the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, an ancient coastline formed at the mouth of the Yangtze River, and human activity was already present along the Lianqi River (now the area around the West Gate Old Street). By the Liang Tianjian era (502–519), a settlement had formed. During the Tang Dynasty, the ancient town of Jiading was named after the Lianqi River and called Lianqi Market. On the ninth day of the twelfth month of the tenth year of the Jiading era in the Southern Song Dynasty (January 7, 1218), the county seat was established and named Jiading after the era name, a name that has continued to this day. In September 2000, Jiading Town was restructured from a town into a subdistrict.
