Shanghai Aviation Science and Technology Museum serves as a science education base.

Shanghai Aviation Science and Technology Museum is a Shanghai-based aviation-themed science education venue, a national popular science promotion base for China’s large passenger aircraft project, a quality-rated industrial tourism attraction in Shanghai, and a designated science education base under Shanghai's "Second Phase Curriculum Reform." It is affiliated with the Shanghai Aerospace Science Popularization Center. The Shanghai Aerospace Science Popularization Center is a national, municipal, and Minhang District science education base.

The exhibition is divided into Halls A and B, utilizing advanced domestic display technologies and featuring multiple interactive exhibits.

The first-floor exhibition hall is themed “Approaching China’s Large Aircraft,” primarily showcasing the corporate image of COMAC, the C919 large passenger aircraft project, the ARJ21 new regional jet project, and related aviation knowledge.

The second-floor exhibition hall is themed “Tracing a Century of Aviation History,” featuring exhibits such as “The History of Global Aviation Development,” “The History of Chinese Aviation Development,” “Aviation Pioneers,” and includes a 3D dome theater.

The third-floor exhibition hall is themed “Exploring the Mysteries of Flight,” focusing on aircraft aerodynamic principles, aviation experiment equipment, aviation survival gear, drones, and flight simulators, and includes an aircraft model-making workshop.

Hall B’s “Innovative Talents Studio” was established in accordance with the requirements of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Education Commission for the “Second Phase Curriculum Reform,” and in conjunction with promoting aviation science education. It features multimedia aircraft design areas, aircraft model-making areas, and an aircraft model exhibition area.

The outdoor exhibition area spans approximately 10,000 square meters and displays nine representative real aircraft, including the first-generation jetliner DC-8, the piston-engine airliner Ilyushin Il-14 (the same model once used as a presidential aircraft by Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai), as well as the J-8 and Q-5 fighter jets.
