Wearing black T-shirts printed with the red words "Labor is the Most Glorious," and holding yellow maps, early the day before yesterday, over 1,000 teachers and students from Changle Holmes Vocational School and sister schools undertook a special test—walking on foot from their school on Luban Road to Songjiang University Town, covering a distance of 30,000 meters. The entire journey took between 6 to 10 hours, challenging their own limits.
For the teachers and students of this school, this was already their fourth time participating in a 60-li hiking activity. From the initial 70-plus participants to this time’s over 1,000 teachers, students, and members of the public—including a 70-year-old elder and an 8-year-old child. The event covered the entire journey on foot, passing through four districts: Huangpu, Xuhui, Minhang, and Songjiang, crossing more than 100 intersections.
"We hope to help them rebuild their self-confidence, temper their willpower, and cultivate in students the determination that 'once a goal is set, one must resolutely follow the plan through to the end,' as well as improve their mental state," said Principal Sun. Currently, society pays much attention to school safety issues, but emphasizing safety does not mean inaction—the school should still foster students' spirit of adventure and challenge.
