Seven Treasures Ancient Street in Shanghai is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a patriotic education base.

The Qibao Ancient Town is situated in the southwestern suburbs of Shanghai and was established during the Song Dynasty. Since ancient times, it has been a place where merchants thrived and culture flourished. A north-south Ming and Qing dynasty-era old street runs through the town—so narrow that only three people can walk side by side—and is lined with traditional shops featuring bright red lattice doors. Small bridges over flowing water and ancient streets from the Ming and Qing periods are typical features of Jiangnan ancient towns, but Qibao offers a uniquely Shanghai-style charm. The Cricket Museum and exhibits on traditional trades recreate the folk customs of old Shanghai; classic Shanghai cuisine is served at historic restaurants and Tianxianglou; Qibao Theater stages major local operas from the Shanghai area; the Micro-carving Museum and Calligraphy Museum showcase the harmonious blend of Chinese folk art and Shanghai cultural elements; and the Zhang Chongren Memorial Hall displays Western sculpture art, reflecting the cosmopolitan spirit of Shanghai in its tolerant and rational embrace of foreign cultural influences.

Traditional taverns and teahouses feature old-style eight-immortal tables, long benches, long-spouted brass teapots, and square bamboo chopsticks. Sitting in a small tavern fluttering with wine banners, sipping Qibao Daqu liquor, and sampling Qibao preserved meat, shredded pork trotters, and cloud cake, one can while away a few leisurely hours—a rare treat in fast-paced Shanghai.

Accessible via buses 937, 748, 92, and Metro Line 9 Exit 2. It is a 10-minute drive from Metro Line 1 Xinzhuang Station and a 20-minute drive from Caobao Road Metro Station. Also reachable by buses 803, 513, 87, 91, 92, 92B, and Xinnan Special Line (get off at Fuqiang Street), or by Tourist Line 1 (departing from Shanghai Tourist Distribution Center). Currently, Metro Line 9 is in operation—get off at Qibao Station and walk about 10–15 minutes to reach the site.
