Ancient Vine Garden

The Ancient Vine Garden is located on the ancient coastal sand dunes that existed before Shanghai's land formation. The site was once a rural market town and is named after an ancient wisteria tree planted during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing era by poet Dong Yiyang. Commonly known as the "Wisteria Shed," it is now situated at 148 Lin'Cang Road, Minhang District, on the east bank of Shagang River, covering an area of 4,948 square meters.

The garden’s main botanical highlight is the ancient wisteria, complemented by various premium flowers and trees, creating a pleasant year-round spring-like scenery. The terrain within the garden is undulating, featuring rockeries and ponds. Surrounding the pond are classic Chinese-style structures such as pavilions, bridges, corridors, terraces, and towers, together forming a picturesque Jiangnan-style garden scene. Along the northern bank of Shagang River, a waterside platform and walking paths are constructed. In the northwest corner, there are semi-open pavilions, landscape walls, and arbor structures, each forming its own scenic element. The Yiyang Ancient Wisteria, with its twisting trunk resembling a coiled dragon and its canopy offering shade like a canopy, bursts into fragrant bloom every April, filling the garden with the scent of purple wisteria flowers.
