No. 7 Qiaobang Road Bunker

The No. 7 Qiaobang Road Bunker is a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The No. 7 Qiaobang Road Bunker is located at No. 7 Qiaobang Road in Shanghai. During the Anti-Japanese War, a battle took place here in which anti-Japanese forces annihilated enemy and puppet troops. Later, during the Liberation War, there was also an intense fight between the People's Liberation Army marching toward Shanghai and the defending Kuomintang troops. For this reason, in 1987, it was named the “No. 7 Bridge Anti-Japanese and Liberation War Memorial Site” by the Shanghai County People’s Government and designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit. In 1995, it was further named an “Patriotic Education Base” by the Minhang District People’s Government. In 1996, the Qibao Town Government invested over 500,000 RMB to build a square covering more than 500 square meters, and commissioned the Shanghai Academy of Oil Painting and Sculpture to design and create a statue depicting a revolutionary warrior.

In April 1996, it was listed as one of the first batch of cultural relics protection units (historical memorial sites) in Minhang District. What was once a battlefield is now a place of green trees and clear waters. The “Liberation War Memorial” built at No. 7 Qiaobang Road (including a soldier statue, a heroes' monument, and the mother-and-son bunker that serves as a historical witness), as part of the “Minhang Cultural Park” (located at No. 2001 Qiaobang Road), reopened to the public in March 2014.

Listed as a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit in April 2014.
