A winding lake connected by stretches of water—stroll along the shore to enjoy the scenery and unwind. Known as the "Pearl of the Grassland," Moon Pao is located in Da'an City, Jilin Province, at the confluence of the Tao'er River and the Nen River. Covering an area of over 200 square kilometers, the lake boasts shimmering blue waters stretching as far as the eye can see. It has now been renamed "Moon Lake." The formation of Moon Lake has a long history and a touching legend. According to the History of Liao: In March of the fifth year of the Taiping era (1025) during the reign of Emperor Shengzong of Liao, at Changchun River (now the Tao'er River), the fishing grounds known as Yuerluo (Moon Lake) suddenly produced a thunderous sound one night. The shockwave traversed sand dunes for forty li, causing a sudden uplift (i.e., an earthquake), resulting in a winding lake formed by interconnected pools. As the two main bodies of water were shaped like crescent moons, they were called "Salana Chi" in Mongolian, meaning "Sun-Moon Pool," and referred to as "Moon Pao" in Chinese. Emperors of the Liao Dynasty all visited Moon Lake for the "Spring Nazhen," an annual spring event where the emperor, accompanied by civil and military officials, would go to Yuerluo for inspection and hunting. The emperor would personally "cut through the ice to catch fish," and the caught fish would be served at a "Fish Head Banquet" to entertain his ministers, celebrating the peace and prosperity of the realm.

Moonpao Town: Located in the northwest of Da'an City, Moonpao Town is 37 kilometers from downtown Da'an. It lies against Moon Lake, borders Taishan Town and Honggangzi Township to the south, neighbors Zhenlai County to the north, and faces the Nen River to the east. The town covers a total area of 170 square kilometers, including 61,986 mu of arable land, 27,000 mu of grassland, and 14,560 mu of forested land. It administers 10 administrative villages and 32 natural villages, with a total population of 16,000, of which 14,600 are agricultural residents. The town has 14 Party branches and 325 Party members, including 245 rural Party members.
