The upscale hot pot restaurant “Dai’an No. 9” in Taipei’s East District still offers set meals, and from April 13 to 19, those who make a reservation and order either the Seafood Box Sushi or the Premium Steak Set (priced at NT$890) can enjoy a free second person. This promotion does not apply to same-day reservations—you must book in advance to take advantage of it.

Dai’an No. 9 is mainly operated by sisters Xie Yiqian, with the initial goal of bringing world-class cuisine to Taiwan. The restaurant specializes in live seafood hot pot, using fresh seafood from Japan such as “star eel from Tokyo Bay and Hyogo Prefecture,” “Hokkaido Fukuiwan snow crab,” and “Ishigaki shellfish from Kyushu.” The broth is made from Hokkaido kelp, dried bonito flakes, and a large amount of vegetables, simmered for 6 hours without turning off the heat, and contains no MSG—offering a completely natural, sweet, fresh, and fragrant taste. It is named Dai’an No. 9 because it is located at No. 9, Lane 27, Section 4, Ren’ai Road, Da’an District.
