Summer evenings and not sure where to go? Come and enjoy some jazz music. The annual Taipei Jazz Festival kicks off for three consecutive days starting July 17 at Da’an Forest Park, featuring musical groups from around the world showcasing diverse musical and cultural styles. They will take turns performing, inviting everyone to come to Da’an Forest Park to enjoy the evening breeze, sway to the rhythm of the music, and spend a wonderful weekend.

Since its inception in 2007, the Taipei Jazz Festival has been a much-anticipated event every mid-July for many local citizens and jazz enthusiasts. This year’s event especially brings together both domestic and international jazz masters and emerging talents for a relay-style performance. International acts include bands from Italy, Honduras, the United States, France... among them, Honduras’ Hibriduz band is known for leading audiences into the emotional flow of music with their passionate pop and Latin styles, and American jazz master Andy Jaffe, who was also the teacher of artist Leehom Wang, is making his first-ever performance in Taiwan—both are highlights of this year’s festival. Twelve musicians were selected from 40 applicants across Taiwan to form two “Taiwan Youth Elite Groups” for the performances. This year’s Taipei Jazz Festival aims to present the multifaceted and complex expressions of jazz music and its related cultures across time and space, collectively conveying the globally resonant “jazz rhythm,” delivering an unforgettable musical feast to the audience.
