Have an amazing time at the coastal wetlands in Da’an (Daxian)! A one-day town stroll is super fun

Da’an is located at the northwest end of Taichung City, between the Dajia River and the Da’an River. With flat terrain, a beautiful coastline, and a rich wetland natural environment, it’s perfect for travelers to ride a bike here, enjoy the sea breeze, and unwind. Bring your family and head to Da’an this weekend for some fun!

In the egret forest along the Nanpu embankment, flocks of egrets, night herons, and sacred ibises—birds not commonly seen—fly freely and sing to their hearts’ content. Bird lovers often visit the bird-watching pavilion in the early morning or at dusk to admire the spectacular sight of egrets gathering and dancing in the sky.

Covering an area of 17 hectares, Da’an Coastal Amusement Park boasts a flat and wide beach, fine sandy shores, and crystal-clear blue waters. At low tide, vast stretches of beach extending hundreds of meters are exposed. To offer travelers more water-based recreational options, the park also provides surfing and kiteboarding activities, allowing visitors to experience the thrill of these sports.

The Da’an Hygrophila Salicifolia Ecological Education Park is located in a pond on the south bank of Liaoliao Stream in Da’an District. Its main goal is to rehabilitate the endangered hygrophila salicifolia plant. The hygrophila salicifolia found in the park is a perennial aquatic herb with an upright, square-shaped stem covered in dense hair. It has simple, opposite leaves that are papery, linear-lanceolate in shape, and bears purple flowers with tubular corollas. Its fruit is elliptical-cylindrical in shape, making it a rare endemic species in Taiwan.

Adjacent to the Taiwan Strait, Da’an Leisure Farm is located next to the Nanpu Sea Dike at the end of Zhongzhong Village’s Zhonghai Road. In the past, it was a place for raising white-feathered ducks and for villagers to go out fishing. After planning and renovation, it has become one of the best farming and fishing leisure destinations in the coastal area. The farm features naturally diverse flora and fauna, including the nationally treasured Da’an hygrophila salicifolia, as well as abundant freshwater fish, shrimp, crab ecosystems, and poultry farming. The ever-changing beauty of the seaside sunset at dusk is also well worth experiencing.
