Spring is the perfect time for flower viewing. The Tetracera asiatica flower wall along the fence of the “Liuliyi Tea Garden” in Zhongliao, Nantou, has erupted in a magnificent display. A whole row of vibrant, dense Tetracera asiatica flower walls spills over the fence, creating a breathtaking sea of violet flowers that is both beautiful and spectacular, making passersby stop to admire the view.

Unlike wisteria, which hangs in cascading clusters, Tetracera asiatica flowers burst into full bloom in a “purple explosion” of beauty. The rich, vivid purple exudes an otherworldly charm. Additionally, Tetracera asiatica is homophonous with “wish-granting vine,” carrying wishes for good fortune. This year, the Tetracera asiatica flowers have bloomed earlier than usual, and their blooming period is expected to last until the end of March.

Every year from February to March is the peak blooming season for Tetracera asiatica.

Because the owner of Liuliyi Tea Garden loves the color purple, they have planted many camellias in the tea garden area and even a whole row of the rare Tetracera asiatica flower walls—something seldom seen across Taiwan. Entry to Liuliyi Tea Garden is also free. However, the flower wall is located right by the roadside, so when taking photos, be mindful of passing vehicles and stay safe.
