Ruins of the Ancient Battle Site of Wolongdai from the Liao and Jin Dynasties

Approximately one kilometer southeast of Da’an Port lies a river basin traditionally known as “Wolongdai” (Crouching Dragon Belt), flanked by expansive sandy shores on both banks. According to the History of Jin, in 1114 AD, Wanyan Aguda, the leader of the Jurchen people, rallied his forces here at Lailiushui (now the Lalin River near Xujia Store in present-day Shuyu City) to launch an uprising. When they attacked Liaoning’s Jiangzhou (today’s Buduna Ancient City in Shuyu) and Changchunzhou (today’s Tahucity in Qian Gorlos County), they camped and prepared their troops here. Hence the name “Wolongdai,” also referred to as Wolong Chuan. On the opposite bank is a river bay known as “Wolongwan” (Wolong Bay, located east of the Shan Shi Bo Le Yuan and the promenade at the Nenjiang Holiday Resort today).
