History: The Songyuan City Museum (Songyuan Cultural Relics Management Office) was established in June 2011. It was invested in and constructed by the Songyuan Municipal People's Government in May 2008, completed at the end of December 2011, and put into use in June 2012. The construction area is 3,532 square meters, with an exhibition area of 1,523 square meters and four exhibition halls. At the time of its establishment, only the institution was approved and no official staffing had been assigned. Therefore, Comrade Fan Bokai, Director of the Office of the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Press and Publication, served as the acting head of the Songyuan City Museum (Songyuan Cultural Relics Management Office). In January 2012, Comrade Fan Bokai was officially appointed as the first director of the Songyuan City Museum.
