Dalian Shicang Scenic Area

The Shicang Village Scenic Area is located at the easternmost end of Binhai Road, a tranquil spot nestled against mountains and by the sea with beautiful scenery. This stretch of coastline is winding, featuring numerous capes and bays, with steep cliffs, rugged rocks, and dramatic, majestic views that are especially spectacular. It’s a great place to climb high and gaze out at the sea, comparable only to the famous Dalian North Bridge.

Viewing the boundless sea from flat land can often feel somewhat dull, leaving an impression of monotony. But when set against lush, majestic mountain hues, the vast white sea suddenly seems to come alive with spirit. No wonder the great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai, after climbing a mountain and gazing at the sea, lamented, “Such is the joy of life on earth; since ancient times all things have flowed eastward like the river.” For the people of Dalian, Shicang is also a great spot for leisure fishing. With many capes, bays, and rugged rocks, it has a somewhat dramatic and rugged terrain that creates numerous tidal backflows. These backflows form surges on the outer sides of protruding reefs, splashing up water or foam, resulting in high oxygen levels and concentrated bait—making it a favorite feeding ground for fish.

The area is elevated, with deep, crystal-clear seawater and a rich variety of seafood. Using baits like sand worms, mantis shrimp, small shrimp, and clams, casting far can yield yellow croaker, blackfish, stonefish, plaice, turbot, bigeye, and flounder, among others. Shore fishing can land you blackfish and bass, while there may also be other unexpected catches such as various types of flounder and sea cucumbers.
