But this time was different, because the construction of the Qiniang Mountain hiking trail was more than halfway complete, with steps built all the way up to the summit of Sanjiao Mountain, the highest peak of Qiniang Mountain. That day also happened to be the annual meeting of the Longgang Hiking Association, so dozens of experienced hikers from the Longgang District Hiking Sports Association, the Shenzhen Mountaineering Association, and other district mountaineering associations climbed Qiniang Mountain together. For example, some sections of the steps are too steep, especially the steeper areas halfway up the mountain, which are still somewhat challenging for ordinary citizens. Since it’s a country park, more consideration should be given to the general public. In fact, the Public Works Bureau has already taken this issue into account—steeper sections all have gentler switchbacks, giving hikers of varying fitness levels options. However, hikers felt that these switchbacks were built somewhat crudely. Additionally, there was significant consensus among the group that some of the flatter sections didn’t need marble pillars for railings, which seemed wasteful, and that some of the more perilous sections would be better suited to wooden plank walkways, which would also blend better with the natural environment.
