Dalian Russian Street

Dalian Russian Street is located northwest of Shengli Bridge in Dalian City, also known as Tuanjie Street. It preserves 38 buildings from the former Far Eastern White Russia era, which are over a hundred years old, making it China’s first street featuring 19th and 20th-century Russian architectural style.

In 2000, the municipal government renovated all the buildings on the street, turning it into a Russian-style thoroughfare integrating tourism, shopping, leisure, and entertainment. The street is 430 meters long, covering an area of 37,000 square meters with a built-up area of 30,000 square meters, consisting of over 20 Russian and European-style buildings. The total investment was 170 million yuan. It was completed and put into use on October 1, 2000, and was constructed by Dalian Construction Holding Co., Ltd. Shanghai Road, which connects to Russian Street, is just a stone’s throw away from Tianjin Street, Dalian’s bustling commercial pedestrian street with over 800,000 daily visitors, as well as Zhongshan Square. It is also on the way to Dalian Railway Station and Dalian Port.

Russian Street is 500 meters long in total, with a planned area of approximately 50,000 square meters. The first phase of the project started in March 2000, was completed on September 15, and opened for use on September 30. The street mainly features European-style architecture and houses Russian restaurants, nightclubs, bars, tourist handicrafts, and souvenir shops. Additionally, there are wax figures depicting administrative officials such as the governors of the Far Eastern region of White Russia in the 1920s and 1930s, showcasing their office and work scenes in the Dalian area at the time. There are also Russian-style horse-drawn carriages and other recreational facilities used for special tourism activities. The authentic foreign ambiance allows visitors to experience a rich taste of another culture without the need for overseas travel.

Transportation: In Dalian, you can take Bus 13 and get off at Shengli Bridge, or take Buses 403, 30, 708, etc., and get off at Zhongshan Square. Walk south along Shanghai Road for 5 minutes to reach Shengli Bridge, and cross the bridge to get to Russian Street.
