Golden Stone Garden

Golden Stone Garden is located in the Dalian Golden Pebble Beach Tourist Area and is one of the famous natural rock geological landscapes there. Covering an area of 30,000 square meters, the sea stone landscape occupies 24,000 square meters.

It is said that the stone garden was discovered during the construction of Golden Pebble Beach in 1996. After being protected and excavated by the Dalian municipal government, the rock formations, which had been dormant for 900 million years, were finally brought to light. Scientific research shows that Golden Stone Garden was formed between 300 and 900 million years ago during the Sinian Period, the same era as the world-renowned cracked stones of Golden Pebble Beach. The rocks in the garden consist of Sinian Period laminated limestone and storm gravel limestone. Later, due to geological movements and changes between sea and land, the rocks underwent weathering and erosion, forming today’s “ancient karst landform.” The rocks here all feature layered textures, and experts say it takes about 20,000 years to form just one millimeter of rock sediment.

The unique sea stone landscape in Golden Stone Garden is formed by accumulated weathered sea rocks, featuring a collection of bizarre and fascinating stones. You’ll see formations like “Gallop of the Sea Horse,” “Whales Playing with Treasure,” “Birth of a Young Eagle,” “Crocodile Swallowing a Snail,” “Lion Crossing the River,” “Turning Celestial Dog,” “Exquisite Cave Heaven,” and “Jade Rabbit Descending to Earth,” earning it the nickname “Sea Erosion Zoo.” Walking through the garden, you can stroll along naturally formed rock crevices, pass through caves, and admire the various strange rocks. While experiencing the feeling of walking down winding paths leading to secluded spots and discovering hidden worlds, you’ll also marvel at the wonders of nature.
