Dalian Coastal Road

Dalian Coastal Road was built in the 1970s as a military defense highway, with both ends guarded by the army. In the early 1980s, Deng Xiaoping visited Dalian and suggested opening it to the public. Since then, it has become a scenic tourist road. In August 1988, the State Council designated this scenic area, along with the Lushunkou Scenic Area, as a national key scenic spot.

In spring when flowers are in full bloom, driving along this road offers breathtaking views on both sides — one side features mountains covered with mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests and hillsides blooming with fiery red azaleas, while the other showcases the vast, misty sea and a variety of rugged reefs and islands. The journey is filled with spectacular scenery at every turn.
