Yuanbao Gou Beishan Site

The Yuanbao Gou Beishan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The Yuanbao Gou Beishan Site is located on the northern slope of Yuanbao Gou Village, Jiuzi Village, Yongzheng Subdistrict, Jinzhou District, Dalian.

Yuanbao Gou Beishan is situated in the eastern part of Beiping Mountain, approximately 3,000 meters southeast of Chijia Gou Taishan, about 1,500 meters southwest of Dayu Mountain, around 1,500 meters south of Sanyu Mountain, and roughly 600 meters north of the main peak of Beiping Mountain. The site is distributed across an area of about 30,000 square meters from the mountaintop to the foot of the southern slope. According to staff at the Jinzhou Museum, the Yuanbao Gou Beishan Site was a residential settlement dating from the late Neolithic Age to the Bronze Age. It covered a vast area, spanning from the foot of the mountain to its mid-slope, essentially encompassing the entire southern slope. Artifacts collected from the site’s surface include stone balls, stone axes, and red-fired earth. Of particular importance are the fragments of sand-tempered blackish-brown pottery and sand-tempered reddish-brown pottery adorned with incised patterns. From these, discernible vessel types include pottery pots and pottery dous.
