Huludao Lingshan Forest Park

Lingshan Forest Park is located southwest of Liangshuijingzi in Shenshenmiaozi Township, Lianshan District, Huludao, approximately 48 kilometers from downtown Huludao, 58 kilometers from Jinzhou, and 75 kilometers from Chaoyang. The core scenic area covers an area of 12 square kilometers. The area is known as Lingshan (Spirit Mountain) because of its beautiful peaks, lush woods, birds singing among fragrant flowers, oddly shaped rocks, deep caves, sweet mountain springs, and often a sky adorned with colorful auspicious clouds and layers of propitious mist — resembling the Western Vulture Peak where the Buddha resides.

Nestled against the mountain, Lingshan Temple is situated within the Lingshan Scenic Area. Originally built in the third year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1738 AD), the temple has undergone several expansions and renovations. It consists of three courtyard complexes — upper, middle, and lower — with pavilions and towers arranged ingeniously, and halls, bridges, and corridors scattered in a delightful disorder, making it a fine example of traditional garden architecture. As a sacred site for folk religious activities that blend Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, the temple houses hundreds of statues of deities. Countless miraculous and spiritual events have been reported here, attracting numerous visitors and pilgrims over the centuries to offer incense and worship. Especially during the first and fifteenth days of each lunar month, as well as during the Lingshan Temple Fair, the flow of worshippers is unceasing. There’s a local saying: “Step onto the soil of Lingshan, and you’ll be free from suffering for ten thousand years.”

Lingshan enjoys distinct seasons and pleasant scenery. The Liangshui River flows through the northern part of the scenic area. The main scenic zone gathers together unique peaks, peculiar rocks, secluded caves, and steep cliffs, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding gently rolling hills. Major attractions are both mystical and distinctive, each subtly reflecting cosmic harmony and geographical alignment — such as the Five Buddhas in Seclusion, the Heavenly Southern Gate, the Golden Toad Guardian, the Mountain-Locking Boulder, the Lovers’ Rocks, the Twelve Zodiac Stones, the Eagle Beak Rock, the Soaring Dragon, the Camel Peak, the Tiger Cave, the Boundless Cave, the Ten Thousand Immortals Cave, and the Ancient Well of Liangshui, among more than 100 scenic spots in total.

Lingshan is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a provincial forest park. It boasts a rich variety of plant species and also produces fruits such as pears, hawthorns, plums, mulberries, apples, and jujubes. The park offers fruit-picking areas and agricultural demonstration zones, allowing visitors to enjoy the immersive experience of returning to nature. Due to its complex terrain, Lingshan was historically a strategic military location, leaving behind numerous historical anecdotes and mysterious legends.

The Lingshan Scenic Area integrates religious culture, folk culture, historical heritage, and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for mountain hiking, temple worship, historical exploration, and leisure vacations.
