Yixian Fossil Museum

The Yixian Fossil Museum collects and displays a variety of fossils from the Mesozoic strata of the western Liaoning region. The Mesozoic strata in western Liaoning, China, are widely exposed and well-developed, with abundant plant and animal fossils. The fossils housed in this museum come from the Mesozoic strata of Yixian and adjacent areas, dating back approximately 120 to 150 million years.

The collection mainly includes fish, birds, insects, reptiles, and plants. Among these, fish fossils are the most distinctive, not only abundant in number but also exceptionally well-preserved. These fossils hold significant scientific research value for studying geological history, as well as the evolutionary processes of ancient life and climate. They also possess high collectible and aesthetic value.
