The Linghai Xiao Jun Memorial Hall is a national AAA-level tourist attraction. Xiao Jun was a renowned modern Chinese writer and a leading figure of the Northeast Writers Group. He created a series of outstanding works such as *The Countryside in August*, *The Mine in May*, and *The Third Generation*, leaving behind 20 volumes of writings totaling approximately 9 million characters in his lifetime. His works are distinctive in personality, characterized by a simple and vigorous style with strong local flavor, making them a valuable part of modern Chinese literature. His masterpiece *The Countryside in August* is the first full-length novel reflecting the anti-Japanese struggle of the people in Northeast China and is hailed as a banner of wartime literature. Mr. Lu Xun wrote the preface for it and spoke highly of the work.

Xiao Jun (July 3, 1907 – June 22, 1988), originally named Liu Honglin, was born on July 3, 1907, in Xiannianpangou Village, Shenjiatai Town, Yixian County, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province (now Danian Township under Linghai, Jinzhou City). His original name was Liu Honglin, and he also used the names Liu Yinfei, Liu Yujie, Liu Weitian, and Liu Yuzhu. In addition to Xiao Jun, his pen names included Tuoyan Sanlang and Tianjun.
