Former Site of the Niuzhuang Post Office

The former site of the Niuzhuang Post Office is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The former site of the Niuzhuang Post Office is located in the Sanlou Community of Batiandi Subdistrict Office, Zhanqian District, south of the office building of the Yingkou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, and is currently used by the Yingkou Red Cross.

The Niuzhuang Post Office was a post office established by modern Japan in Yingkou, responsible for postal services between Yingkou and Dashiqiao. It was completed on August 1, 1906 (the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty) and is now well preserved. The former site of the Niuzhuang Post Office has a construction area of approximately 560 square meters, a building height of 12 meters, and is a two-story structure. It features a gable roof, walls built with strip stones and red bricks, a wooden frame structure, arched doors, and two tiger-head windows. In addition to postal services, it also handled savings services.

In 2004, the ownership of the former site of the Niuzhuang Post Office, which belonged to the Huaneng Power Plant, was transferred to the Yingkou Red Cross, and the cultural relic itself was renovated that year.

In 1990, the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government designated the former site of the Niuzhuang Post Office as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit. In 2003, the People’s Government of Liaoning Province (Liaozhengfa [2003] No. 12) announced it as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit. The scope of cultural relic protection and the construction control zone announced by the People’s Government of Liaoning Province (Liaozhengfa [2004] No. 34) are as follows: within 3 meters east, 6 meters south, 5 meters west, and 5 meters north of the outer base of the building’s exterior walls is the protected area; within 30 meters outside the protected area is the Class II construction control zone, and within 15 meters outside the Class II construction control zone is the Class III construction control zone.
