Genghis Khan Square

Genghis Khan Square, named after Genghis Khan, is the largest square in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to date (tied with Xilin Square) and one of the iconic landmarks of Hailar District in Hulunbuir City. The square covers a total area of 25.5 hectares, stretching from Shengli Avenue in the north to Heping Avenue in the south, bordered by Hulunbuir Electric Power Bureau in the east and Nuomin Road in the west. Majestic and grand, it draws many locals and tourists alike.

Genghis Khan Square is divided into seven functional zones, including a historical and cultural area, a water activity area, and a fountain square area. The 626 Small River loops around the entire square, its meandering clear waters resembling a jade ribbon. Corridor bridges, curved bridges, arch bridges, rainbow bridges, and cable-stayed bridges span gracefully over the water. Lush lawns and pavilions add vibrant greenery; fountains and cascading waterfalls display a spectrum of colors. Painted pleasure boats echo the charm of the Jiangnan region, while cloud-like sky projections showcase the grandeur of northern landscapes. The Bayan Eerdun Obo (sacred mound), nestled between mountain and water, enshrines the “Sacred Stone” atop it and features carved statues and inscribed stelae below. Looking south, one takes in the delicate beauty of the Suzhou and Hangzhou landscapes; gazing north, the vastness of the desert and long rivers unfolds in full splendor.
