Depart from Zhalantun and drive to Chaihe. The Chaihe Scenic Area features steep cliffs and lush vegetation. Located in the Chaihe Wetland at the southwestern foothills of the Greater Khingan Mountains, this is a transitional zone between the mountains and the Mongolian grasslands. The area is abundant in natural resources, with vast primeval forests and spectacular crater lakes, earning it the reputation of the “Jiuzhaigou of the Greater Khingan.” It is a national scenic area. Visitors can stop to take photos and admire the scenery. Major attractions include Jiulong Spring, Bear Cave, and Water Curtain Cave.
