Yongxing Lake was formed over 500,000 years ago and has seen commercial activities for more than 2,000 years. The mountains around Yongxing Lake are not high, nor is the lake particularly large, but the harmonious landscape of mountains and water is graceful and picturesque. Nestled among rolling hills, the lake’s surface is as smooth as a mirror. Migratory birds sing, tree shadows sway gently, the air is fresh, and small streams flow through lush green scenery. Bonfire parties and local cultural experiences are enchanting and leave visitors spellbound. Fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, and sightseeing make it well worth a visit. Among the natural sights, uniquely shaped, lifelike formations are truly breathtaking. The “World’s No.1 Divine Turtle” is incredibly realistic, large, and vivid—so impressive that both Chinese and international tourists call it an “unparalleled treasure.” The “Alien,” and “Baodai Rock,” each tens of meters tall and over ten meters thick, stand tall on the western mountain of Yongxing Lake and are said to be “unique in the world.” No one knows how they were formed. The “Flying Stone”—how it got here and how it split into four pieces—leaves behind a trail of mysteries. The magic of the “Peace Cave,” the romance of the “Dolphin’s Devotion,” the mystery of the “Reclining Buddha,” and the charm of the “Grassland Scenery” all leave you with endless imagination and things to ponder. Yongxing Lake radiates out in all directions: To the east lies the “Ancient Temple Ruins,” which date back 10,000 years; to the west is the “Mangniu Mountain,” whose “peaks touch the clouds” and is covered in primeval forest; to the south is the ancient city of “Shaxiaokou,” located at the border between Inner Mongolia and Shanxi, home to a section of the ancient Great Wall; and to the north is “Hada Mountain,” which resembles a narrow valley. Standing atop it can make you dizzy, with its seemingly bottomless depths giving off a southern vibe. Long ago, the “Alien” descended onto the western mountain of Yongxing Lake. People dared not approach it until a Taoist priest passed by and realized it was the fossil of an extraterrestrial being. The stone is about 30 meters tall and over ten meters thick, standing upright on the mountaintop. The alien’s image is strikingly lifelike—the ears, eyes, nose, and especially the mouth, which seems as if it could swallow the world, are all clearly visible. On quiet nights, it almost sounds like you can hear it singing. Ever since, people have come here to burn incense for peace and happiness.
