Baotou Lay Buddhists' Forest
A Lay Buddhists' Forest is a place where lay practitioners of Buddhism gather to chant scriptures and engage in self-cultivation. With a history of over 70 years, it covers an area of 370 square meters, and its daily maintenance mainly relies on donations from lay Buddhists.
Its full name is Baotou Buddhist Lay Buddhists' Forest, located on Xintaidian Lane, Beiliang, Donghe District. It was initiated in 1928 and officially established in 1934, and has a history of over eighty years. It serves as the activity center for those studying and practicing Buddhism in the Baotou area. In 2005, during the leadership transition of the Baotou Buddhist Lay Buddhists' Forest, Qi Kan was elected as the new head of the forest through the selection of many lay Buddhists. He carried out a comprehensive renovation and reconstruction of the original halls, and the newly built Mahavira Hall covers a construction area of 800 square meters.
