Baiyun Ebo Grassland

Traveling north from Baotou and passing through Guyang County, you will enter the vast Baiyun Ebo Grassland. Here, the grassland stretches far and wide, with lush water and grass, and herds of cattle and sheep. The sounds of herdsmen galloping on horseback and occasional bursts of song fill the air. At the 148-kilometer mark on the Baotou-Baiyun Highway, there is a cluster of yurts — this is the Baiyun Ebo Aili (village), a tourist spot established by the Baiyun District government.

There are many well-equipped yurts here that provide accommodation for guests. Visitors can sample traditional Mongolian foods such as butter, fried rice, whole roasted lamb, roasted lamb leg, and hand-grabbed meat. They can also go horseback riding, practice archery, join bonfire parties, and observe ethnic customs such as presenting hada (silk scarves) and toasting. You can watch exciting activities like horse lassoing and horse racing on the grassland, treating your eyes to a real spectacle. Additionally, you can visit the world’s largest rare-earth mine — the Baiyun Ebo Mine — and the memorial hall dedicated to Hasar, the younger brother of Genghis Khan.
