Shuiliang Waterfall, located in Shuiliang Mountain Forest Park to the south of the city center. Shuiliang Mountain was formerly known as Pengdong Mountain, with an elevation of 378.8 meters and covering an area of over ten square li. The mountain ridges are continuous and the rocks are rugged. It was once called Pengshan or Tongshan because the former Peng Mansion was hidden here. Pengdong Water Curtain was one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Dongguan in the Ming Dynasty. The mountain has springs with clear, sweet-tasting water; there is an ancient Dongshan Temple, which is grand in scale and well-preserved in ruins. There is a Guanyin Temple halfway up the mountain, which can be directly accessed by car. At the mountain peak, a waterfall cascades down more than ten zhang, resembling a water curtain, flowing continuously all year round. The mountain streams are covered with vines hanging down the cliffs. The spring water flows behind the temple on the left and into Furong Ravine. The waterfall and flowing springs make a sound like a zither. The mountain is covered with dense woods, lush flowers and grass, and the rustling of pine trees adds to the coolness. Shuiliang Mountain Forest Park is located in the southern suburbs of Dongguan City, with a total area of 22.2 square kilometers. It is a large-scale comprehensive park featuring low mountains, hills, lakes, and their biological resources. It integrates hiking activities, water recreation, plant science education, agricultural eco-tourism, leisure vacationing, and returning to nature, possessing both the functions of a suburban park and the characteristics of an urban park. The main peak of the park stands at an elevation of 379.9 meters, majestic and upright. Compared to surrounding mountains, Shuiliang Mountain appears even more scenic and elegant due to its affinity with water. Shuiliang Mountain was formerly known as Pengdong Mountain. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, many literati and scholars have visited here to enjoy the scenery, leaving behind poetic lines such as “The beautiful scenery of Pengdong Water Curtain.”
