The "Maritime Silk Road" International Photography Exhibition of Fine Works Successfully Held in Houjie, Dongguan

　　To implement the national strategy of the Belt and Road Initiative and build a new platform for comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong and countries/regions along the Maritime Silk Road, starting from 2014, Guangdong Province began hosting the Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo, which has been held in Dongguan.

　　The 2016 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Maritime Silk Road Expo") was successfully held from October 27 to 30 at the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center in Dongguan. The exhibition period was extended by one day compared to last year, with the first two days designated for professional visitors and the latter two days open to the public. A total of 2,626 booths were set up, maintaining the same scale in exhibition area and booth numbers as last year.

　　One of the highlights of this year's Maritime Silk Road Expo was the "Maritime Silk Road" International Photography Exhibition of Fine Works, jointly organized by the Expo organizing committee. Against the grand backdrop of the important strategic vision proposed at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee to build the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the exhibition continued the cultural and artistic glory of the Maritime Silk Road from the perspectives of cultural exchange and high-quality creation, contributing to the building of a culturally strong nation. It showcased the splendid history and culture of the countries along the Maritime Silk Road through the compelling power of imagery.

　　This exhibition featured 50 works, selected from outstanding entries of the First Guangdong "Maritime Silk Road" Photography Competition, combined with specially commissioned works from renowned photographers. These works were sourced from China and over 30 other countries along the Maritime Silk Road, including Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, Iran, Egypt, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The content is rich and the forms diverse, blending a sense of the times with visual appeal. They comprehensively present the scenic beauty and the lives of people along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road—from historical sites, marine economy, maritime culture, marine landscapes, and underwater worlds to geographical scenery, natural features, historical relics, as well as contemporary urban and rural landscapes, economic development, and the folk arts and daily life of the people.
