VR technology, simply put, is virtual reality. It uses computers to simulate a three-dimensional virtual world, providing users with sensory simulations such as vision, hearing, and touch, making them feel as if they are truly there.

Now, this technology has been applied to Tibet's tourism projects. To help more people learn about Tibet, the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Commission has teamed up with "Guofeng Panorama," a brand under Tibet Guofeng Advertising Co., Ltd., to conduct VR panoramic shooting of distinctive tourist towns and famous attractions in seven prefecture-level cities in Tibet. They are fully committed to creating the concept of "Tibet Tourism + VR Panorama." The shooting work is currently in the post-production phase, and the online version will be released soon.

This, along with the comfortable and livable Nyingchi International Tourism Town, the “Apron Town” of Jiedexiu, the salt wells of Mangkang County—home to China’s only well-preserved, most primitive manual salt-drying method—the Jiangzi Town that bears the poignant history of resistance against British invasion, the Baga Township nestled by sacred mountains and lakes, and the exotic-flavored Gyirong Town, all bring new highlights to Tibet tourism.

At the 3rd China Tibet Tourism & Culture Expo in 2016, the Tibet Autonomous Region Tourism Development Commission incorporated "black technologies" such as VR panoramic experiences, full-sensory experiences, and 360° dome projection technology into the Tibet Tourism-themed exhibition hall, offering visitors a completely new tourism experience.

These modern technologies will gradually be integrated into the development of Tibet’s tourism industry to achieve "product informatization, resource digitization, service standardization, and supervision intelligence." A Tibet tourism information platform will be established to realize intelligent development of the tourism industry in Tibet.
