Hao Gang Folk Culture Museum

On September 15, 2004, as the Su Clan Ancestral Hall in Hao Gang was renovated and reopened, Dongguan’s first village-level museum — the Hao Gang Folk Culture Museum — was also established. The mission of the Hao Gang Folk Culture Museum is to protect the nation’s precious cultural heritage and promote traditional ethnic culture. Its founding reflects the support and care of the Nancheng District Party Committee and District Office for grassroots cultural development. The museum showcases the social life and customs of the time by exhibiting folk household items such as furniture and ceramics from the Qing Dynasty to the Republican era, aiming to promote outstanding traditional culture and popularize knowledge of cultural science, history, and artifacts. In addition, the museum systematically presents the historical origins and development of the Su family in Hao Gang Village. The exhibition makes full use of the existing spatial layout of the Su Clan Ancestral Hall, primarily arranged according to sections such as the living room, bedroom, study, classroom, dining room, and workshop. It also provides a comprehensive display of common household items from that period, including bowls, plates, beans, stoves, lamps, and teapots.

The Hao Gang Folk Culture Museum has collected and displayed more than ten types of furniture, including beds, chairs, tables, desks, flower stands, tea tables, clothes racks, basin stands, wardrobes, bookshelves, and writing desks, as well as over 20 types of utensils such as bowls, plates, jars, stoves, trays, teapots, cups, pillows, bottles, basins, inkstones, cups, candlesticks, lampshades, hat stands, and pen holders. Visitors can gain insight into the lifestyle and customs of the Qing Dynasty to the Republican era, as well as learn about the historical development of Hao Gang Village in Nancheng.

Nancheng Subdistrict: Covering an area of 59 square kilometers, Nancheng Subdistrict governs 17 community neighborhood committees, with a permanent population of 47,000 and a migrant population of 101,600. It serves as Dongguan’s new urban center and the hub for politics, economy, commerce, and culture.

Nancheng Subdistrict enjoys a prime geographical location, situated in the middle of the Guangzhou–Hong Kong Economic Corridor. Major transportation arteries such as the Guangzhou–Shenzhen Expressway, Guantai Avenue, Dongguan Avenue, Science and Technology Road, and Riverside Road run through the district, while the city’s Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Ring Roads traverse the area, forming a highly developed transportation network.
