Golden Bay Plaza is located in the main scenic area of the Dongjiang River landscape belt in the new urban district. It serves as a comprehensive venue for exhibitions, entertainment, leisure, and more. The plaza covers a total area of 52,585 square meters, with the main area spanning 17,136 square meters. Viewed from the government building, the main plaza and the eight buildings on either side form a V-shape, resembling a giant opening his arms wide to embrace the blue sky. Its unique charm is striking and sparks the imagination. The “dragon” is the central theme of the plaza, representing an organic blend of traditional Chinese dragon culture and the distinctive character of Shilong. A total of 24 stone walls on both sides of the plaza are carved with 12 single-dragon images, 12 double-dragon chasing-the-pearl images, and the “Jade Dragon” in the white marble bridge carvings of the side garden—featuring over 60 depictions of dragons.

At the center of the plaza lies a one-of-a-kind, massive “dragon” character paved in stone, highlighted by the deep gray color of the material. The calligraphy of this “dragon” character is modeled after the wild cursive script of Wang Xizhi, the great calligrapher of the Jin Dynasty, and covers an area of over 10,000 square meters. To ensure the plaza’s charm is visible even at night, there are seven steel light poles on each side, each composed of 13 yellow light sources. These are beautifully named “Chinese Lanterns.” The surroundings are adorned with numerous ground lights, creating a dazzling, flowing effect. At the southern end of the plaza is the largest stage in Shilong. In front of the stage is a musical fountain consisting of 880 nozzles of various sizes and 1,145 multicolored underwater lights, forming ten different water patterns. The central high jet reaches over 30 meters, and under advanced computer control, it transforms into hundreds of variations. Accompanied by powerful music, the fountain displays ever-changing, vibrant patterns, creating an uplifting experience. The plaza’s landscaped area spans 8,335 square meters. In addition to six recreational garden squares interspersed among the eight plaza buildings, which feature seasonal flowers and plants, the eastern garden is the most beautiful, covering over 6,000 square meters. This side garden combines features of the Jiangnan water town style with Lingnan architectural elements, and the enchanting “Ancient Banyan in the Shade” is particularly captivating. To the south are rockeries and waterfalls that appear naturally formed. To the north lies a 2,800-square-meter azure pool, spanned east-to-west by a rare 30-meter-long white marble curved bridge adorned with dragon and phoenix carvings, exuding an elegant and classic charm. The pool is home to 10,000 koi fish, forming the “Koi Adding Radiance” section. The pool is surrounded by pavilions, bamboo gardens, osmanthus groves, and a layout called “Willows on the Bank Singing with Orioles.” The garden also includes nearly 100 species of plants, flowers, and trees, along with several hundred meters of wooden boardwalks that create a winding, serene path, making it a delightful place to linger.
