General Mountain Park

The General Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located on General Mountain to the west of Xiaobian Village in Chang'an Town. It was primarily funded and constructed in 1981 to commemorate the Chang'an martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives during China’s early revolutionary period, the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, as well as the Korean War and the counterattack in Vietnam after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

As early as the 1920s during the Great Revolution, comrades Cai Rixin and Cai Ruping from Xiaobian Township in Chang'an were already engaged in underground revolutionary work for the Party in Guangzhou. In the winter of 1924, they were dispatched by the Party organization to return to their hometown of Xiaobian to carry out peasant movement activities... After the "4.

12" counter-revolutionary coup, due to the despicable betrayal of a traitor, Cai Rixin was secretly arrested by secret agents. He endured severe torture by the enemy, demonstrating the lofty spirit and noble character of a Party member... Soon after, he was executed by the reactionary Kuomintang forces at the shore of Bai'e Pond. Party member Cai Ruping also unfortunately passed away in the autumn of 1948 due to overwork from years of revolutionary activities.

General Mountain in Xiaobian, Chang'an, served as a key transportation route between Dongguan and Bao'an. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, multiple significant battles of varying scales took place here in February, June, and October of 1944, and again in the autumn of 1945. Over ten soldiers sacrificed their lives in these brutal battles. Martyrs such as Cai Jixu from Xiaobian Village and Li Jingquan from Jinxia Township died heroically while fighting the enemy and puppet troops on General Mountain in Xiaobian.

During the Liberation War, Li Guang from Jinsha Township died a glorious death on January 10, 1949, in the famous Huaihai Campaign. Chen Hong from Chenwu Village in Wusha died heroically in the summer of 1949 while fighting the Kuomintang forces in Beizha, Humen, Dongguan...

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, during the Korean War in 1951, Cai Qing from Xiaobian Township died heroically while fighting American forces at Deosuli in Korea. During the renowned Counterattack in Self-Defense Against Vietnam in 1979, Wang Runhui from Shangjiao Village in Chang'an, Deng Wanxing from Xikou New Village, Mai Manxiang and Mai Xihui from Xianxi Village, Cai Hanting from Xiaobian Township, and Mai Bogen from Xiabian Township all fought bravely for the country and made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

The revolutionary heroism of these martyrs is moving and deeply respectable, and it also inspires the people of our town to remember their roots and strive to build a better homeland. Every year during the Qingming Festival, many members of the public and students spontaneously visit the Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument to pay their respects and honor the martyrs’ great achievements. The General Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument has now become an important site for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education in our town.
