Chang'an Central Square

Chang'an Central Square is located at the intersection of the Second Ring Road, Sports Road, and Changqing Road in the town center. Covering an area of 8 hectares and costing over 40 million yuan, it was designed in 1997, commenced construction in August 1998, and opened for use during the Spring Festival in 1999. The central square integrates Western architectural styles with traditional Chinese garden art. It is currently one of the larger municipal cultural facilities in Chang'an Town, capable of accommodating tens of thousands of people and providing a beautiful leisure space for the town’s over 300,000 residents.

Ascending the steps from the north entrance, you’ll be greeted by a vast, flat square spanning over 20,000 square meters. On both the east and west sides of the square stand two rows of 10-meter-tall royal palm trees and two rows of narrow-leaf banyans, their swaying greenery showcasing the charm of southern China and adding grandeur to the square. Moving southward, you’ll find an open-air theater that can seat 2,500 spectators. The theater’s exterior wall features a hundred-meter-long relief sculpture that artistically depicts Chang'an’s past history, the glorious achievements since the reform and opening-up, as well as a vision of a bright future. At the square’s south entrance stands the Bronze Mirror Gate, constructed from snowflake marble, with a large bronze mirror hanging high above, symbolizing the fair, transparent, clean, and noble governance style of the Chang'an Town government. Around the square are four leisure areas: Chunhua Garden (Spring Flower Garden), Xiajing Garden (Summer Scenery Garden), Qiuyue Garden (Autumn Moon Garden), and Dongjing Garden (Winter Tranquility Garden). These feature pavilions, winding paths, blooming flowers, lush greenery, and a variety of exquisitely designed fountains, all complementing each other beautifully. Ever-changing lights and elegant music fill the entire square with an atmosphere of elegance, romance, and harmony. Most eye-catching of all is the giant “Feng Shui Ball” in the center of the square, known as the largest of its kind in China. This large Feng Shui Ball has a diameter of 1.8 meters and is accompanied by four smaller ones, each with a diameter of 1.2 meters, forming a Feng Shui ball array. At night, colorful lights cast a dazzling glow on the musical fountain, making the central square seem endlessly fascinating.
