Sīlún Pavilion

Sīlún Pavilion is a cultural tourism attraction.

Sīlún Pavilion, locally referred to as the Literary Pavilion, is located on the western bank of the lower reaches of Wangxi River in the market town, commanding a view of the entrance to the river. It stands in striking contrast with the Dēngyíng Bridge, resembling a bow and arrow respectively — a symbolism representing the town’s protection and peace. Legend has it that the pavilion was built around the same time as the Dēngyíng Bridge. The structure is hexagonal, three stories high, and stands 11.5 meters tall, with a base made of red stone, the body constructed from blue bricks and lime-sand mortar, and the eaves built in a corbelled style. The main door on the first floor is adorned with a rectangular red stone slab inscribed with the four characters “迓星毓秀” (welcoming celestial radiance and nurturing beauty), while another red stone slab engraved with the three characters “丝纶阁” (Sīlún Pavilion) is embedded midway up the wall on the second floor. Originally, the interior had wooden flooring and a staircase. However, due to years of neglect and human damage, the wooden structures have been lost, the roof apex is destroyed, the body is cracked and overgrown with small trees, urgently requiring restoration.

In the first half of 1990, the town government spent over 100,000 yuan to renovate Sīlún Pavilion. This renovation mainly used modern colored ceramic tiles to clad and refurbish the exterior of the tower, giving it a completely renewed look.
