The Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center is located in Dongguan City, the heart of the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration. It covers an area of 330,000 square meters, with the initial phase of the exhibition halls spanning 74,000 square meters and offering 2,615 international standard booths. The outdoor exhibition area spans 90,000 square meters, making it one of the largest single-unit exhibition venues in Asia. The venue was professionally designed under the guidance of international experts. Its roof features a cable net structure, ensuring a column-free space with a span of 90 meters and a width of 260 meters. The exhibition areas can be freely partitioned, with display spaces that can be flexibly combined from 5,000 to 50,000 square meters. The venue is fully equipped with ample ventilation, electricity, gas, water, and other supporting facilities, and all equipment uses internationally renowned brands.

Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center Co., Ltd. (GDE) was established in December 2000. It covers an area of 330,000 square meters and currently has five exhibition halls, with a total indoor exhibition area of 100,000 square meters and an outdoor exhibition area of 90,000 square meters, providing a total of 5,500 standard booths. The venue includes 11 meeting rooms ranging in size from 85 to 2,400 square meters, equipped with various advanced conference facilities including simultaneous interpretation systems. The 2,400-square-meter multifunctional grand conference hall features a retractable stage suitable for large-scale performances.

With the goals of specialization, intensification, internationalization, and basing, the company has adopted the ISO9000 quality management system and implemented a “one-stop” A+ service. In 2003, it was awarded the title of “China’s Best Comprehensive Service Exhibition Venue.” In 2004, it was recognized as one of the “Top Ten Most Watched Enterprises in China’s Exhibition Industry.” The company maintains close ties with domestic and international exhibition organizations and industries. It has successively become an overseas member of the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association, a vice-presidential-level member of the Guangdong Provincial Business Federation, a member of the China Association of Exhibition Centers, and has successfully joined the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

Since its opening in 2002, the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center has experienced healthy development. Over three years, it hosted more than 80 various exhibitions and events, with 26 exhibition projects in 2004 alone. The center has successfully organized cultural activities such as CCTV’s (China Central Television) “Same Song” concert, Vienna Symphony Orchestra performances, and concerts by Hong Kong’s Top Ten Singers. Brand exhibitions include the 200,000-square-meter “International Famous Furniture (Dongguan) Exhibition,” the 40,000-square-meter “Guangdong International Automobile Exhibition and Trade Fair,” the 50,000-square-meter “Dongguan International Machinery and Raw Materials Exhibition, Plastics and Packaging Exhibition,” as well as the International Famous Shoes Exhibition. The level of exhibition organization has continuously improved, and in 2003, it was designated as a provincial exhibition work contact point by the Guangdong Provincial Economic and Trade Commission.

Houjie Town: Houjie Town was first built during the Xuanhe period of Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty (1119–1125 AD), boasting a history of over 800 years. Legend has it that Wang Tai from Putian, Fujian, settled here during his official travels and named the place “Houjie” (Rear Street) because it was located behind the “Junpu” (a marketplace for military dependents). Over the dynasties, the population grew, industries flourished, and many talented individuals emerged. The town also earned the name “Houjie” (Thick Street) due to its honest and kind-hearted residents and prosperous, abundant life. Since ancient times, Houjie has enjoyed thriving commerce and rich resources, with local specialties such as ramie, sausages, and rice noodles being famous both at home and abroad.
