Yinping Mountain Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Dongguan Yinping Mountain Forest Park is situated in the eastern part of Dongguan City, within Xiegang Town, at longitude 114°14′ east and latitude 22°54′ north. It is 64 kilometers from downtown Dongguan, 14 kilometers from Xiegang Town government, 60 kilometers south of Shenzhen City, and 30 kilometers east of Huizhou City. To the east and northeast, it borders Lulin Town of Huizhou City, to the south it connects with Qingxi Town, to the west and southwest it adjoins Changping Town and Zhangmutou Town respectively, and to the north it neighbors Qiaotou Town. The nature reserve area includes the South Management District, Yaoshan Management District, and the Xiegang Town Forest Farm, covering a total area of 2,518.3 hectares.

Yinping Mountain Forest Park

The Yinping Mountain Nature Reserve is located in Dongguan City in the southeastern part of Guangdong Province, bordering Huiyang City. Among its peaks, Yinpingzui Mountain (898.2 meters) is the highest point within Dongguan, while Baiyunzhang Mountain, which lies on the border with Huiyang City, reaches an elevation of 1,003.5 meters. There are five peaks in the reserve that exceed 700 meters in height — a rare natural resource in Dongguan, which is predominantly composed of plains and plateaus. The Yinping Mountain Nature Reserve boasts abundant flora and fauna, dense and lush forests, enchanting scenery, birdsong and cicada chirps everywhere, as well as cascading waterfalls, all contributing to its unique natural landscape. Coupled with local folklore, the area is filled with a sense of mystery and charm.

Yinpingzui Mountain, located to the southeast of the Yinping Mountain Nature Reserve, is the highest peak in Dongguan and the main peak of the eastern mountain range extending northward.

The overall terrain of the reserve slopes downward from the southeast — where Yinjiao and Baiyunzhang Mountains are located — and the southwest — where Doufutou, Makeng Mountain, and Changshan peaks (all above 700 meters in elevation) are found — gradually descending toward the Shigu Reservoir in the north (at an elevation of 103 meters). This creates a funnel-shaped catchment area facing north within the nature reserve.

The parent rock of the soil in the nature reserve is granite, and the soil types vary with altitude: below 600 meters, the soil is lateritic red soil, while above 600 meters, it is yellow soil.

The Yinping Mountain Nature Reserve is situated south of the Tropic of Cancer and has a subtropical monsoon climate. It features long summers without winters, abundant sunshine, plentiful rainfall, rich heat, and a mild climate. The annual average temperature ranges between 21°C and 22°C. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature between 13°C and 14°C. July is the hottest month, with an average temperature between 27°C and 28°C. The annual rainfall is 1,767.8 millimeters, mostly concentrated between April and September. The annual average relative humidity is 79%. Major severe weather events include low temperatures and overcast, rainy conditions in February and March; cold dew winds around October; typhoons, which are the most serious threat to Dongguan and typically occur between July and August; as well as spring and autumn droughts and frosty cold spells.

The main stream running through most of the nature reserve is a mountain stream that originates from Jiaoziyuan to the west of Baiyunzhang and flows into Shigu Reservoir. The area has crisscrossing streams, and due to significant elevation drops, many multi-tiered waterfalls have formed, creating spectacular views. Most streams flow in a northwest or northeast direction before converging into Shigu Reservoir in the northern part of the reserve. Shigu Reservoir has a capacity of 6.1 million cubic meters and supplies drinking water and irrigation for farmland in both Xiegang Town of Dongguan City and Lulin Town of Huizhou City.

Transportation

Public Transport: Travelers from Guangzhou can take a high-speed train to Zhangmutou Station, then transfer to a bus to Zhangmutou Zhentong Bus Terminal, and finally take the Xiegang Route 2 bus inside the terminal to get off at Nanmian Intersection Station. Travelers from Huizhou can take Bus 689 from Huizhou Railway Station to Nanmian Intersection Station.

Self-driving: From the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway (Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway), transfer to the Chaozhou-Dongguan-Huizhou Expressway (Hugang Expressway). Follow the directional signs and exit at Xiegang. Then drive approximately 1.7 kilometers along the Dongguan-Huizhou Highway (toward Huizhou). Turn right and it will take about 8 minutes to reach Yinping Mountain Forest Park.

Ticket

Admission is free. Parking fee is 3 RMB per vehicle. Sightseeing bus: 5 RMB per adult, 2.5 RMB per child.
