Dalingshan Forest Park is located in the southwestern part of Dongguan City and the northeastern part of the Pearl River Estuary. It spans four towns and one forest farm (Houjie, Humen, Chang'an, Dalingshan Town, and Dalingshan Forest Farm), covering an area of approximately 74 square kilometers. The main peak, Chashan Summit, has an elevation of 530.1 meters. From the summit, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city’s new look as well as the surrounding lakes and mountains. Dalingshan served as a revolutionary base for the Dongjiang Column during the War of Resistance against Japan. Red landmarks such as the former sites of the East River Column, memorial halls, battle monuments, and educated youth dormitories bear witness to this land’s glorious revolutionary history and carry forward its immortal spirit. With a forest coverage rate of 93.2%, abundant water resources, and diverse flora and fauna, the park is a comprehensive forest park suitable for sightseeing, scientific research, leisure, and fitness. Boasting rich cultural landscapes and a beautiful natural environment, it has become a shining green jewel on the Dongguan Plain and throughout the Pearl River Estuary.

The park features low mountain and hilly terrain. Rolling hills, layered peaks, and deep, serene valleys define its landscape. The highest point, “Chashan Summit,” stands at 530.1 meters above sea level. From the top, visitors can admire the nearby cityscapes and surrounding lakes and mountains up close, and gaze out toward the South China Sea and the Pearl River Estuary in the distance.

Deep within the park’s high-altitude forests lie many uniquely shaped rocks, such as Flag-Planting Rock, Qilin Rock, Lotus Rock, and Lovers’ Rock. These rocks take on various lifelike forms—resembling humans, animals, or objects—and are so vivid they seem to come alive. Scattered across the park, these quiet beauties enhance the natural and wild charm of the landscape.

The park boasts abundant water resources. There are 21 reservoirs in the vicinity, with a total capacity of 80 million cubic meters. Notable ones include Henggang Reservoir, Daxi Reservoir, and Huaidi Reservoir. The shorelines of these reservoirs are winding and picturesque, with reflections like paintings. Numerous peninsulas naturally divide the lake surfaces, forming tranquil bays and inlets. Throughout the park, waterfalls, mountain streams, and creeks create a seamless blend of mountain and water scenery, making it an ideal destination for forest bathing.

The park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Wildlife includes pythons, wild boars, masked palm civets, pangolins, cobras, eagles, magpies, doves, partridges, owls, and hill mynas, among others. The vegetation is mainly composed of planted forests, lychee orchards, artificial acacia forests, and eucalyptus plantations, along with 20,000 acres of secondary forests. Native tree species include schefflera, Chinese tallow trees, and cycas-like ferns. According to preliminary surveys, the forest park contains 346 species of vascular plants from 247 genera and 105 families.

The park is primarily divided into two scenic areas: the Shidong Scenic Area and the Baishishan Scenic Area, with the Shidong Scenic Area being the main section. It includes: the Shidong Main Scenic Area, Mashan Tourist Zone, Dengxintang Forest Core Area, Jinjizui Tourist Zone, Dashuili Tourist Zone, Changhu Tourist Zone, Lianhuashan Forest Core Area, Huadengzhan–Jigongzai Tourist Zone, and Macao Tang–Leigongshan Tourist Zone. Major attractions include Chashan Summit, Guanyin Ancient Temple, the former site of the Educated Youth Dormitory, the Maitreya Statue, the Longevity Stone, the Rare Plants Garden, the Biyou Valley Forest Bath Trail, Mashan Wonderland, Yuxi Valley, Lotus Stone and Yuxi Waterfall, Shuiong Wetland, the original secondary broad-leaved forest belt in the Shidong Main Scenic Area, and the Rhododendron Biological Community.

Dalingshan Town: Located in the central-southern part of Dongguan City, Dalingshan Town covers an area of 95 square kilometers and governs 23 village committees (communities). With a population of over 400,000, the town has approximately 40,000 registered residents.

Dalingshan is situated in the economically vibrant heart of the Pearl River Delta, at the center of Dongguan’s “trinity” metropolitan area. It neighbors Hong Kong and Macau and enjoys a prime geographical location. The new National Highway 107, Shida Road, Houda Road, and Lianma Road run through the town.
