The Cliff Inscriptions on Yanyan Mountain in Shipai Town are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Guangdong Province.

Yanyan was originally an ancient quarry from the Ming and Qing dynasties in Dongguan. Its formation is somewhat similar to that of Guangdong’s most famous Lotus Mountain, and it bears a resemblance in appearance. The stone material is red sedimentary rock, and after centuries of quarrying, many stone walls and pillars remain, showing a dark pinkish hue, which locals call "Eighteen Rooms." On the stone walls are cliff inscriptions from the 16th year of the Guangxu reign (1890) — four large regular-script characters “咸钦燕岭” (meaning “All Reverence to Yanyan”) inscribed by Sun Shuang. Each character is about 0.1 square meters in size. These inscriptions are well-preserved today and hold certain artistic value in calligraphy. There is a poem that reads: “Wenqing, noble and refined, broad-hearted and serene, built his cottage at Yanyan, observing all things in quietude. Fish chase lychees in the pool, flowers and birds chirp crimson red. A thousand woods under the bright moon, layered ridges with refreshing breeze. Sharing joy with people, fine scenes arrive just in time. Lofty mountains inspire awe — this inscription is dedicated to Mingfeng.” However, this attraction has not yet been well developed, attracting only those who seek tranquility and ancient charm. It also offers insight into the development process of ancient quarries and provides some understanding of historical evolution. It is said that the local government is planning to develop the site, as Lotus Mountain has been very successfully developed and has become a famous scenic spot in Guangdong Province. Shipai Food Street: Located in Zhongkeng Village, Shipai Town, the eateries here are known for their exquisitely prepared pond fish, especially the cooking of Dongguan’s Four Famous Freshwater Fish (bighead carp, grass carp, white bream, and mud carp).
