Qian Family Ancestral Hall at Xiaqiao

The Qian Family Ancestral Hall at Xiaqiao is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Guangdong Province.

The Qian Family Ancestral Hall at Xiaqiao is located in Xiaqiao Community, Dongcheng Subdistrict, Dongguan City, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Xiaqiao Village in Dongcheng, Dongguan, covers an area of approximately 3.82 square kilometers and is the only village in Dongguan inhabited solely by people with the surname Qian. It currently has over 2,600 members of the Qian clan. In the village stands an ancient Qian Family Ancestral Hall, on the stone pillars of which is carved a couplet: “Honored and enfeoffed in the ancient state of Wuyue, our ancestral home lies in Qiantang; serving as officials in Huiyang, our recent branch first separated in Dongguan,” indicating that the Qian clan in this village originated from Qiantang in Zhejiang.

On April 19, 2019, the Qian Family Ancestral Hall at Xiaqiao was designated as part of the ninth batch of cultural heritage sites protected at the provincial level in Guangdong Province.

The jurisdiction of Xiaqiao Community covers an area of approximately 3.82 square kilometers and operates under a primary-level economic system. The community has 598 permanent households, a registered population of 2,695, and an estimated migrant population of around 7,000.

The community Party working committee has 9 members, the neighborhood committee has 3 members, and the council has 5 members. The community Party working committee oversees 3 branches with a total of 136 party members, including 98 community party members and 38 non-public sector party members.
