The Senhui Natural History Museum serves as a science education base.

The Senhui Natural History Museum is located on Keyuan Road in Guancheng District, Dongguan City, adjacent to Keyuan Garden—one of Guangdong’s Four Famous Gardens—as well as the Keyuan Museum, the Lingnan Academy of Painting, and the Literature Academy. These cultural landmarks complement each other, creating a rich cultural atmosphere. The museum spans over 10,000 square meters (including an antique market), with an exhibition building covering more than 6,000 square meters. The exhibition areas mainly include: the Large Root Carving and Ornamental Stone Gallery, the Premium Ornamental Stone Gallery, the Ornamental Stone Culture Corridor, and the Paleontological Fossil Gallery. It is a large-scale, well-equipped, and fully functional natural science museum in Dongguan with an extensive collection.

Local Specialties & Food

1. Maltose Pomelo Peel: A traditional snack in Dongguan, made from fresh pomelo peel and maltose. It is sweet but not greasy, leaving a lingering fragrance. The version produced in Shilong Town is the most famous. Available for purchase on-site at the attraction.

2. Shijie Longan: Longan (Dimocarpus longan), also known as "guiyuan," is an evergreen tree belonging to the Sapindaceae family, reaching heights of 8–15 meters. It blooms in spring and bears fruit in summer. As a tropical fruit native to southern China, it is one of the renowned fruits of Lingnan. According to Dongguan’s first announcement of ancient and notable trees {July 4, 2003}, there are 17 second- and third-level ancient longan trees distributed across towns such as Nancheng, Fenggang, Tangxia, Qingxi, Dalang, Qiaotou, Humen, Hongmei, Zhongtang, and Shijie. The oldest surviving longan trees, aged 300 years, are located in Chongkou Village, Shijie. This attests to the long history and wide distribution of longan cultivation in Dongguan. During the Republican era, Dongguan was one of the main longan-producing regions in Guangdong. Varieties of Dongguan longan include: Shixia, Guangyan, Wuyuan, Fuyan, Dongbi, and Huake.

3. Machong Bananas: Located at the mouth of the Pearl River, Machong features crisscrossing rivers, fertile soil, and abundant air, water, and sunlight—ideal conditions for banana growth. Features: short and stout banana plants, fragrant fruit pulp, large-sized bananas, and peels marked with greenish-yellow “plum blossom” spots. A local folk rhyme goes: “Machong bananas are big and plenty, each bunch looks like a big pig trough; when autumn comes and bananas ripen, their fragrance drifts across five rivers.”

4. Dongguan Sausage: Made from fresh pork, sausage casings, and premium rice wine, these sausages are short and oval-shaped, with a purplish-brown color. They are fragrant and delicious, with the most famous variety coming from Houjie. Based on ingredients, they come in types such as white lard sausage, duck liver sausage, pork liver sausage, and soy sauce sausage.

5. Wanjiang Tofu Skin: A traditional food from Wanjiang, Dongguan’s water town, and a key ingredient in vegetarian cuisine. Made from ground soybeans processed into soymilk, it has a glossy finish and becomes tender, smooth, and flavorful when cooked.

6. Baisha Oil Duck: A salt-cured and air-dried duck product from Baisha Village in Humen Town, with a history of over 150 years. It has a bright white color, aromatic taste, and is rich without being greasy.
